EMoCs project moves forward after successful conference in Paris

On November 16th, Sport and Citizenship think tank met with its partners on the project European Meeting of Company Sport (EMoCS) in Treviso for their third steering committee.

This project is of a particulier interest to Sport and Citizenship think tank as it intends to contribute to the European effort to further raise awareness of the importance of health-enhancing physical activity throughout increased participation in, and equal access to, sport for all, especially at the workplace, in accordance with the EU Sport Work Plan for 2014-2017.

After few introductory remarks by the president of the European federation for company sport, Didier Besseyre, the participants went on to debrief the EMoCS conference which took place in Paris, on September 27th. Everybody stressed a well-organised conference which brought together high level economic and innovation experts as well as representatives from national governments and European institutions. The meeting continued with the discussion on few organizational issues around the workshop which will take place in Brussels, in May 2019. The Brussels’ workshop will be a key moment of the project as it aims to bring together experts who will develop concrete recommendations for EU policy makers and companies on the implementation of company sport.

Finally, the meeting focused on the European Label for Active Workplaces which aims to provide tools and certifications to companies in order to measure the efficiency of their programmes on sport. In that regard, the upcoming challenge will be to gather signatures to set up a final label proposal by December 2019.

The next steering committee will be held in Ljubljana, in January 2019.
