Conference on Sport Diplomacy

On 3-4 June 2021, Sport and Citizenship took part to the conference organized by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2021. Within the debate’s theme on the role of sport in the context of the European Union’s external relations, two recommendations have been made by our President Laurent Thieule: ensure that sport and its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations is recognized, and promote sport in all European funding programs, from the green deal to the inclusion of refugees.

The Conference on the Future of Europe gains Council approval

The aim of the Conference is to analyse the challenges facing the EU, including those caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, though it should also reflect the European Union’s Strategic Agenda (the EU policies accorded priority for the period 2019-2024). The range of topics to be addressed also encompasses climate change policy, economic and social issues, and the digital transformation. Nevertheless, all citizens are free to raise questions that they wish to be debated. We can make sport one of these topics.
